Ozarow Cemetery Before and After

The destroyed cemetery was overgrown with a few wall fragments, no gates and most of the monuments removed to a field on the banks of the Vistula and used as fortifications by the Germans against the Soviet army.

Rededicated in October 2001, the Ozarow cemetery contained about 200 recovered monuments and fragments. Over 500 people attended, including Jewish descendants, townspeople, the mayor, the media, rabbis and priests. Children had been let out of school to mark this historical occasion in Ozarow.
